SIP trunking enables businesses to transfer all traditional based telephony activities in your office to Voice over IP (VOIP), by migrating your calls to use your IP connection, rather than through traditional but expensive ISDN lines. SIP trunking is rapidly being adopted by businesses who are looking to save money on their fixed line rental costs and who want to leverage the power of the web to save money on lower call rates, dramatically reducing monthly call costs as well as line rentals. If your office phone system, PBX or ACD already natively supports SIP phone lines then you can connect straight away either using your existing internet connection service (subject to available bandwidth and ability to prioritize voice traffic through your firewalls) or using a separate direct connection from Magnetic North (SDSL or Leased Line). We recommend 36Kbps per VOIP concurrent call to be available. Better yet, even customers with legacy phone systems that don’t natively support IP lines can also still save money and connect with SIP trunking, by taking advantage of an VOIP gateway that we can provide for a fixed cost on connection.

Cost Savings Businesses using an ISDN30 connection will be paying line rental of up to £5000 per annum. If your office phone system is next generation and supports SIP trunking then you will immediately save this each year, and also enjoy reduced calling charges. If you have multiple ISDN30 lines, then the savings will be even larger and more immediate! If your phone system does not support SIP trunking, then you can still cut out your line rental costs and take advantage of the reduced call rate service, however, an IP gateway will need to be installed – but even taking in to account the one off cost of buying a gateway, you will still be saving money on line rentals in the first year. All these savings come before you take in to account the savings on SIP phone calls which are much more cost effective than traditional phone calls.
