
What is SIP trunking?
SIP trunking enables businesses to transfer all traditional based telephony activities in your office to Voice over IP (VOIP), by migrating your calls to use your IP connection, rather than through traditional but expensive ISDN lines.
SIP trunking is rapidly being adopted by businesses who are looking to save money on their fixed line rental costs and who want to leverage the power of the web to save money on lower call rates, dramatically reducing monthly call costs as well as line rentals.
If your office phone system, PBX or ACD already natively supports SIP phone lines then you can connect straight away either using your existing internet connection service (subject to available bandwidth and ability to prioritize voice traffic through your firewalls) or using a separate direct connection from Magnetic North (SDSL or Leased Line). We recommend 36Kbps per VOIP concurrent call to be available.
